[Suddenly, a fist is flying downwards and towards the top of Naruto’s head.

It seems like the more Naruto speaks, the more Minato thinks he got so many things from his mother. With a lopsided smile, he calmly steps in between them and carefully grabs the journal from Naruto.]

I would like to apologize for that display. [Behind him, there’s an indignant ‘Hey!’ That said, Minato clears his throat and his expression turns a little more serious.] As it is obvious, we are in need of answers. To the citizens who might be able to lend a hand through this book that we have concluded to be a communication device, we will appreciate any help.

[The next words, he hesitates for a moment in saying, but he feels he might as well throw it out there too.]

He has a cat, and she's cute, but I only saw her over the journals aaaaaaages ago.

I wouldn't mind a cat, but we have too many pets already for Katara to say yes, I think.

But you don't think a cat's too much to add to a starfish and Appa and Momo and Soren and Foo-Foo, right?

Naruto falls silent again, no longer as enthusiastic as he had been.]

A cat? [For some reason it seemed weird, picturing Itachi petting some cute kitten or something.] I dunno, maybe? Are those the names of your other pets?

Oh, nope! You're not gone from home. I guess you just get taken and then put back right away, or maybe we're all just clones, or something? I dunno, it's MAGIC. It doesn't HAVE to make sense, you know?

Yeah! And they are. Except Soren's my best friend and partner, not a pet. ...But he's an animal, so I think he halfway counts.

[At the talk of being a clone, he makes the hand seal and tries to dispel. He was certain he wasn't a cone anyway, but he didn't disappear so!]

I'm pretty sure I'm not a clone.

[Not a pet but a partner, he's immediately thinking of something like how Akamaru is to Kiba.] What sorta animal is he?

A pokemon! He's a swellow. That's like a really, really big bird. You'll probably see some around, there are lots of people here from that world.

What's a pokemon?

It's a type of animal from one of the worlds people are from. There're lots around. But Soren - [ She will just whistle, calling her guardian-brother-partner thing over to display on the screen proudly.

Soren's used to this, so he comes over and looks at the journal. Yeah, great, he's here kid. So exciting. ]

Ahhh! That looks really cool! Where'd you get it from?

Ah, when...my friend Chien, when he left, Soren got left behind, too. Soren was born here, unlike most of the pokemon. There're four that were born here. So even if their trainers go home, they stay behind.
