[With the disappearance of his Father and then his Mother a couple days after, Naruto has been feeling pretty down. He isn't sure how to deal with it but for now, FOOD seems to be an option.]

Oi, can I ask you something? How do people tell the difference over who's disappeared form this place, and who's got kidnapped? Like I was?

[He can't help but think of Ino, who left days ago. Voice notably more mellow, he finds a log to sit on.]

When you're not sure if someone's been kidnapped or left for good, you check their stuff. If someone's been kidnapped, all of their things will still be around.

If they've gone back to their world, it'll look like a maid came in after and cleaned up any evidence that they once were here at all. No clothes, no personal effects. At best you might find some knick-knacks they left behind for someone, or a letter.

My Dad's gone, but all my Mom's stuff- like her clothes and hair stuff, they're still here.

How long's your mom been gone?

[He focuses on that for now, not sure how to go about offering condolences for Minato's departure. It's hard enough when someone you care about goes, but it was different for Naruto. Having both of his parents here was a window into the family life he never got to have.]

Since yesterday some time. She wasn't here when I woke up.

She'll be back. Just watch the journals. I'll keep an eye out around the village for her too.

[Fast forwarding to an hour later, and he'll be there! He touches down on the roof first, as ninjas do, but he's not uncivilized so he'll knock on the front door too. He has a backpack slung over one shoulder.]

[Anyway when it gets to that time it takes him a moment to open the door, leaning on it as he sees his good bro on the front porch.]

[He grins, friendly as he can muster while subtly checking Naruto over for signs of how down he is. To cover for it, he doesn't wait for the invitation to walk on in either.]

You know, I think this is the first time I've been in here since your birthday.

[He thinks about it for a moment- just a moment, but he can't recall a time since then when Shikamaru was here., With a shrug he turns and walks towards the kitchen, leaving Shikamaru to shut the door.]

I guess it has been since then, yeah. What with all the weird things always happening here.

Not to mention work.

[Shikamaru half follows, leaning up against the doorway to the kitchen and adjusting the strap on his shoulder.]

Yeah, work. [Work. It's a good thing he likes you Shikamaru. That ad working there isn't actually bad, you meet a lot of people.

I dunno. I just got done cleaning up. I can make ramen if you're hunfry, I guess?
