[After waking up just a short time ago and realizing that these journals serve as some form of communication for- well, wherever they are, a family of ninja decide that they need to search for important information.]

Why am I half naked in a forest?

[There’s a short pause before the blond teenager speaks again, for he has an even more pressing question that needs to be answered.]

WHY ARE MY PARENTS HALF NAKED IN A FOREST?!

[Granted, it’s a very important question but the consensus was they had more prudent information to gather. Like where they are, for example. And so a redheaded woman, Kushina, quickly shouts back over her son’s panic.]

Naruto! That’s not the right question to ask!

Oh-- right.

[Those questions can wait for now.]

Where is this place then? Or what is it? It isn’t like.. the afterlife, right? ‘Cause I don’t think I’m dead, so I can’t be in it! But my Mom and Dad are here too and they were dead, but now they’re alive, so how can they be here at the same time and why do we all have wings and OH GOD THIS IS THE AFTERLIFE, ISN’T IT??

[Suddenly, a fist is flying downwards and towards the top of Naruto’s head.

THWAK.]

FOCUS, YA KNOW!

[SUDDENLY AN UZUMAKI STANDOFF that Minato sighs and shakes his head at. Trust these two to be diplomats. It seems like the more Naruto speaks, the more Minato thinks he got so many things from his mother. With a lopsided smile, he calmly steps in between them and carefully grabs the journal from Naruto.]

I would like to apologize for that display. [Behind him, there’s an indignant ‘Hey!’ That said, Minato clears his throat and his expression turns a little more serious.] As it is obvious, we are in need of answers. To the citizens who might be able to lend a hand through this book that we have concluded to be a communication device, we will appreciate any help.

[The next words, he hesitates for a moment in saying, but he feels he might as well throw it out there too.]

Also, for anyone who might know my family and I, please contact us as soon as possible. Thank you. [And he ends that with a polite smile.]

[Smiles. Yes, Konan is nice. Actually, everyone they met so far has been really nice and helpful. Well, aside from being called weird by Tenten. And that boy that implied that he and Kushina had a secret affair. That was weird.

Don't tell her about the destroying the village though....

OH. Right. Chouji said it was his favorite food. She wants to talk to him about it though. Spending time shopping with her sonnnnnnn aaaah he can carry the groceries kehehehe]

[He'd happily carry them for her too, SHOW WHAT A GROWN UP STRONG MAN HE IS BECOMING.]

I dunno what kind they'll have! Oh man, if only they have Ichiraku ramen here though.. then this place would be perfect.. but they've gotta have plenty of different types of ramen, right? We should look for some miso!

[DUNNO IF HE'S STRONGER THAN MOM YET THO...

She laughs a bit at his minirant on ramen. She does miss Ichiraku quite a bit too. Maybe they could start their own ramen shop while they were here. She always wanted to try that.

Luceti was perfect anyway with Minato and Naruto even without Ichiraku. Having the two of them more than made up for anything it was lacking.]

Miso and salt ramen it is! [It's still funny that Naruto's favorite food was ramen, just like her.]

That's not the only thing we can get at the store though. Your dad [read: Kushina] won't be very happy if we just come home with ramen, and you -[She pokes his side a few times.]- have to eat healthy since you're still a growing boy. You need to eat grains, your fruits an veggies, and plenty of protein! Ah, also you need to drink your milk every day to make your bones strong.

[Oh yeah vegetables... gross.. though he guesses he can eat a few to keep her happy.]

Well everyone's saying the stuff in the shops is all free so we can just go get whatever else we feel like!

[He has to eat all of the ones he gets on his plate!!]

Good thing too because we don't have any of the money Minato, your dad, and I saved in Konoha.

But we'll have our home stocked with food in no time! [A home...

Thinking of that, she can't help but smile. It wasn't like the one she shared with Minato but they can create new memories there. She wasn't one to complain about things she lost anymore. Now it was to treasure what they had now.

A family.]

Just don't go raiding the panty in the middle of the night, huh?

[More nudging.]

[Which means he won't do it and get caught there is a huge difference there.

But ahh, the talk of home, and shopping, and all the normal family things like that, it's a little overwhelming.]

[If he says he won't then she's going to hold him to that. So he really better not get caught.

She blinks once and then her eyes go soft, smile warm. He's not the only one that wanted a family more than anything. With a country that had been destroyed, she had been so excited to have a small family of her own to adore.]

[Being able to talk of going shopping and making dinner and all those normal family activities, is almost too much for her too. She just wishes it didn't take so long for Naruto to have it. He gets it now so she can make up for all those years. She's already scolded him a little, hasn't she?

It pulls a bit of a laugh from her.]

Are you sure you're ready to have parents like us?

Of course I am!

[Not even a second delay before he answers that one. It was something he always wanted, but knew he could never have. At least right up until they all woke up in a forest together, anyways.]

But your dad is a lot to handle, ya know. Even for me.

[DON'T MIND MINATO AS HE WATCHES THIS GLORIOUS DISPLAY. Aw, his wife and son being mother and child - the perfect image he never got to see. :c It fills his daddy heart with great euphoria!]

[OH HEY THANKS FOR REMINDING HER BUT he's mostly a lot to handle because he worries SO MUCH. She knows it's only because he loves her but really -- she's an adult!!

She sees Minato out of the corner of her eyes and looks over, smiling mischievously and fleetingly, before going back to whispering.]

[Not sure why they are whispering at first, but Naruto leans in a little too.]

He is? How? [Naruto's impression of his dad is pretty great, how has Minato been causing trouble??]

Hmm, when I was pregnant with you he was always worrying about us. It was sweet at first but then it got a bit irritating. He would jump the gun and think something was wrong when I was in a little bit of pain. Being pregnant isn't easy, but your dad was a bit over the top with the smallest things. I can't remember how many times he checked me over to make sure that we were okay.

Of course, we always were. I wouldn't let anything happen without me doing something about it.

[Though she couldn't blame him. He knew the story of Mito's pregnancy, and she could get a bit worried too with the danger of the Kyuubi trying to get out.]

He's a big worrywart and he'll be like that especially with you for a while. He won't leave you alone for long. Well, with me here, I'll try and keep him under control.

[Whoops he grinning again as he listens to Kushina's stories.]

He was really worried about us, huh?

[That's really sweet.... even if it's also kind of lame, Dad.]

I didn't think he'd be that type of person. I mean he looks so strong, and always knows what's going on and is all.. Hokage-ish!

[She laughs.]

Sure he was Hokage! But your dad is still your dad, ya know! Minato is still Minato. Hokage are much more than just being strong leaders for their village. Your dad was also my husband and if he tried to order me around like he was Hokage of our house I wouldn't have any of it!

Heh, I guess! I don't really know much about you guys at all, so...

[There's a bit of a sheepish smile on his face now. But they have time to learn all that stuff now, right?]

[This time, he approaches his family with a soft smile on his lips. Minato was able to catch what Naruto just said, well a part of it at least, so he feels he should remedy this.

But yes, Naruto, they have time now. Something they never had before.]

We can always learn more about each other now, Naruto. I think your mother already started. [Then he glances at Kushina and smiles at her. WHAT DID YOU TELL OUR SON??]

And we want to learn all about you too. I've heard a few things from your friends, ya know. They're not all good things, either.

Is this about the Academy stuff?

[Like the perfectly trained ninja she is, she sees that shift. Unbeknownst to Minato or Naruto, little mischievous gears start clicking in place as she steps closer to Naruto.]

Oh? Did you do something bad at the Academy?

[When did he NOT do something bad...]

Well just like you feared, I wasn't that good at all my schoolwork.. [Let's see if that excuse flies]

It makes her pause because Naruto was just a baby when she said those words. He wouldn't have remembered...

But he does remember meeting her later and she could only guess she reiterated those words to her son to make sure he knew them. If she could, she would have laughed. For as unpredictable as people could think she was, she was predictable too.]

Bad grades doesn't necessarily mean you get into trouble a lot, you troublemaker.
